Ross Forbes

Ross Forbes is the founder and director of the firm. He has over thirty years experience in golf course design and has worked on a wide variety of golf development projects around the world.

Ross knew he wanted to be a golf course designer as a young boy and focused his education accordingly. Upon graduating from the University of Arizona, with a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree, he worked for several golf course design firms in California before starting his own company in 1992.

With expertise in multiple professional disciplines, Ross has the unique ability to thrive in both the big-picture realm of large scale land planning as well as the more detail oriented aspects of precision working drawings and golf course construction. His golf courses have received considerable international acclaim and have hosted numerous tournaments featuring some of the finest golfers in the world.

Also, our clients find Ross extremely easy to work with. His laid back personality and calm demeanor, coupled with his knowledge and experience, enable him to work in a cooperative manner with owners, members and other project consultants to ensure that each client’s specific development goals are met. As you might imagine, a large percentage of our business is based on repeat clients and their positive referrals.

As an avid student of golf architecture history, Ross is a frequent reference for golf writers and researchers. He is also the author of The History of the American Golf Course.

During his teen years, Ross caddied at the Mountain View Grand Hotel and became a competitive junior golfer playing in numerous junior, amateur and open events throughout New England. Though his tournament days are behind him, Ross still enjoys getting out to the course with family and friends whenever possible.

Ross and his wife, Kathy, reside in southern New Hampshire.
